Complacent

I cannot stand complacency.

I gave an informational lecture to a class the other day about the safety of personal care products. They all stared back at me without an ounce of interest in their faces.

No one had any questions. No one laughed at my jokes. I tried to not let it bother me. BUT, it did. Why were these girls or women looking at me with such empty stares??

I came home and thought about it.
I figured it out...................they were complacent.
They were not happy to be where they were, at least not that day. They weren't excited about what they were doing there. They were going through the motions of another day and I just happened to show up in their lives this particular day.

How sad is that?? They should have been interested in what I had to say. Not just because I'm AWESOME, but because it pertains to the field of the career they have chosen. They should be interested in anything that gives their education more VALUE.
Complacency will not get you anywhere.

Let me say that again. Complacency will get you NOWHERE. As I told these ladies, you have to take the circumstances in your life and manipulate them for motivation. If you don't, you will be complacent. And while that may work for today, at the end of your life, you'll wish you had DONE something. Take what frustrates you, whether it is a person, a product, a company or whatever and DO something with that. Become a person of action. Do what creates meaning for you.

Finding Value

Right now everyone seems to be looking for value in everything from the things we buy to the actions we repeat everyday. We want meaning, we want value.

We are asking: What value do we feel we have in our lives?

When it seems the bottom is falling out or the *stuff* is hitting the fan, we re-evaluate the choices we make. Now we realize what we had been focusing on may not have been the most important............

Wake up calls like the one our country is in are usually somewhat short-lived - think 9/11. But, if we use the wake up call wisely we can put more VALUE back into our lives.

RE-EVALUATE
MAKE CHANGES
FOCUS on being VALUABLE to others
FOCUS on having VALUE in your own life
FOCUS on finding VALUE in everything
